Dream Kitchen Ideas

Whether you are having a spruce up or a new kitchen altogether, we have some great kitchen ideas for you. There is so much to think of when it comes to kitchens. Aesthetics vs. function, colour, space, storage, style, living and so much more. Let’s dive in with some basics:

Kitchen Ideas

Don’t limit yourself. When it comes to kitchen ideas, do your research. Spend some time looking through kitchen designs and be inspired. Look at different colours, contrasting doors, quirky storage ideas, patterned flooring, sustainable materials, patterned worktops and splashbacks, vertical cabinets and on the list goes.

Aesthetics vs. Function

There is a balance of aesthetics vs. function. You want it to look incredible but work for you too. No point in having a stunning kitchen that drives you mad because everything is in the wrong place. There’s quite a bit of planning involved.

The kitchen triangle for example works out the space between your hob, fridge and sink. Think about taking hot pans off the hob and having to move around an island to get to the sink. Your kitchen must work for the way you work and live in it, otherwise it will become somewhere you don’t want to be. Similarly, don’t choose a colour that you love for that few months then can’t stand after a year. Think about the long term because kitchens, although not for life, will be with you for a while!

Warm and Inviting

Colours are a big part of making a kitchen warm and inviting but so too can be your accessories and soft furnishings, especially if you have a window seat or seating area within your kitchen. Think about this when designing your kitchen and again, research some kitchen ideas around seating and accessories too. It might just be that you only have space for bar stools, but choose soft colours and make your kitchen welcoming. Another great idea is warm lighting and why not add a warm LED sign to your kitchen, like this one!

Be Inspired

Most importantly, take your time and be inspired. Research online but get out there and visit some showrooms local to you. Take the time to feel the furniture, what do you like – painted wood or smooth doors. Bespoke or off the shelf? Look at the worktop options, handles, taps, sinks and importantly, appliances.

Kitchen showrooms will have lots for you to choose from so make the most of their expertise and find out more about the ranges available. What types of doors are more durable. What handles (or not!) will work better for you. What sort of hob would you like? Thinking of a vertical oven set up? Be inspired and let a kitchen designer help bring your dream kitchen to life.

We’d love to help you. Why not arrange to pop into our Leicester showroom for a coffee and a chat with John or Michelle.
