Your Dream Kitchen awaits

What should I look for in a kitchen showroom?

In a kitchen showroom, look beyond colour and style and pay attention to the parts you will use every day. The purpose of a showroom visit is to see how kitchens are built, how materials feel and whether the details match the standard you expect.

Check the practical details

  • Open drawers and cupboards and notice how smoothly they operate.
  • Inspect cabinet interiors, hinges, drawer boxes and shelf construction.
  • Compare matt, gloss, painted and textured finishes in person.
  • Look at worktop edges, joins and splashback combinations.
  • Try corner storage, pull-outs, bins and internal organisers.
  • Consider lighting and how it changes the appearance of colours.

Also ask whether the displays represent the same specification you would actually receive. This makes comparisons between suppliers much more meaningful.

Think about layout as well as appearance

A visually impressive kitchen still needs to work well. Talk to the designer about storage, circulation space, appliance positions, preparation areas and how several people may use the room at once.

You can see examples of Bettinsons’ work in the kitchen gallery and case studies.
